Gibson L-00 1936- Sunburst

This is a mid-1930s Gibson L-00 Sunburst, in very good condition for the year.

This fine "Blues King" small Gibson flattop was with its previous owner since the late 1940s and it belonged to a professional musician in Wales UK.

Spruce top with a rich sunburst, single top binding, and stripy pickguard. The body width is 14" 3/4", "Made in the USA" stamped on the back of the headstock,

Kalamazoo Michigan white label present, The FON number is 756B, possibly dating this one to 1936.

These have a chunky "V" profile 14 fret neck. The top nut is 45mm. We would describe it as having a medium playing action, it's playable, but not low. The tone picked or strummed is amazing, everything that you would expect from a pre-war Gibson flat top.

It has numerous marks and chips to the finish but nothing unsightly. The black light test and internal video camera inspection revealed no visible crack repairs. Some evidence of overspray on the top which could have been a historic finish touch-up. There are two very small holes in the top, on either side of the sound hole, It looks like a sound hole pickup may have been attached in the past. The neck heel strap button is not original.
