This Leedy Apollo Tenor Banjo is in excellent playing order. Very ornate and rare USA made instrument. Delicate engraving and featuringĀ "The famous Nobby Gold" Leedy plating, whatever that might be! All we know is that the longer you look at this masterpiece, the more intricate craftsmanship is reviled. A wonderful combination of ivory and Grey pearl.
So it looks very pretty, but when you play and hear it you will be amazed. Sweet well rounded tone with fantastic projection and attack. So it is not just a show queen but a formidable players instrument.
They certainly "don't make them like this anymore" When you look at the prices of "ornate" oriental instruments on sale today, that would not be able to compete sonically with this vintage Leedy, it makes this Apollo something of a bargain.
Sold with what we believe is the original hard case with has one broken latch but is fully functional.
