Paul Reed Smith McCarty Hollow Body II Violin Sunburst 1998

2,500.00

This is a Paul Reed Smith McCarty Hollow Body II crafted in 1998 with a stunning Violin Amber flame top.

The PRS story goes that  Joe Knaggs, Pauls private stock master builder, approached Paul and asked if he could build an arch top electric.

Interestingly I  was informed at the NAMM show that it was the concept of the English guitar guru Doug Chandler. Whatever the true story is, the resulting guitars are truly amazing instruments.

The Maple is carved both front and back, no bracing, but utilizing a sound post (A bit like a violin and cello it vibrates the column of air in the body, enhancing its resonance and offering support for the top) Giving the guitar a natural tone unheard of for it compact size.

A couple of small marks are evident, one is a chip on the edge binding on the back of the guitar that I have photographed. Other than that its in great shape and we have just given it a full set up and fret dress so she is good to go.

So we have a flame top, bird inlays and PRS Artist pack and the original case.
