Gibson J-200 Celebrity 1985

This is a 1985 Gibson J-200 "Celebrity" a super rare find, and we are proud to offer this fine acoustic guitar for sale at Motomusic.

Only 90 Gibson J-200 Celebrity models were ever made, in Gibsons original Kalamazoo factory, Many of them went to actual Celebrities like Pete Towsend and Dave Gilmour, and the rest ended up in the hands of some lucky collectors, This particular instrument is number 12 of this very limited production run. They rarely become available for sale and it would be a great addition to any collection.

Our example is in excellent condition for the year, with just a few light dings and a small chip in the finish on the back of the instrument. There has been a professional repair to a crack in the guitar's top. There is also some slight lacquer checking along the top and around the neck heel, but all in keeping with the age of the guitar. The frets are good showing little wear, and they are nicely polished.

The J-200 Celebrity features the same dimensions as a standard J-200 model, with Rosewood back and sides, a bound fingerboard, a mahogany neck, a mustache bridge with vintage inlays, and vintage deluxe Gibson branded gold machine heads. It is all very pretty, but at the same time subtle.

Also of note is the prominent and super-retro “The Gibson” inlay on the guitar's headstock, and the very attractive fingerboard inlays.

It has a K&K "Ultrapure" pickup which has been professionally installed with a convenient end pin jack.

It has its original Gibson hardshell case which is also in very good condition.
