2005 Gibson J-45 Historic Collection Limited Edition in classic sunburst finish. Complete with original Gibson hard shell case.
This guitar has that warmth and woodiness that is often associated with old J45s. The acoustic tone has also “opened up” nicely after years of use, when compared to a new example. This guitar also benefits from a discreet factory fitted active Fishman pickup system.
There is plenty of life in the nicely polished and crowned frets, in fact there is no discernable fret wear visible. This example has some playing marks gathered over time, some swirls on the back, and some lacquer checking on the neck heel and back of the headstock. The setup and playability are very good on this instrument and will not disappoint the acoustic player.
This is a rare find, due to the short production run and a fitting tribute to the golden age of Gibson flattops. The J-45 was billed by Gibson as the “American Workhorse” as it was used by so many celebrities and artist since it was first launched in 1942.
The J-45 remains Gibson's most popular dreadnought acoustic guitar. Its iconic drop shoulder design delivers great warmth, excellent projection, and a clear, dynamic response. It has a Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides with traditional Vintage Sunburst finish.
Released as a limited run in 2005 of only 670 instruments worldwide the 'Historic Collection' J-45 is the forerunner of 'True Vintage Series' re-creating the original specifications including a AA Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, one-piece mahogany neck has a medium C shaped profile with rolled fretboard edges and slight shoulders, generous slab rosewood fretboard with vintage-style fret wire, silk-screened gold Gibson logo, stock Kluson-style vintage nickel tuners with white buttons, Nitro-Cellulose finish.
